Good sleep and rest enable the body to repair and make it fit. It also helps to prevent excess weight gain, heart disease, and increased illness duration. Rest is essential for better mental health, increased concentration and memory, a healthier immune system, reduced stress, improved mood, and even a better metabolism. Sleep deprivation can harm a person’s mental and physical health, their performance at school or work, and their overall quality of life. Most adults need 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night.
