This course includes various asana (postures), kriyas (cleansing techniques), pranayama (breathing techniques), Dhyan (meditation), and yogic understanding. It gives detailed theoretical and practical exposure to the student under the guidance of yoga therapy doctors.

  • 6:00 am – 7:30 am: yoga practices
  • 7:30 am – 8: 00 am: tea

  • 9: 30 am -11:00 am: meal and rest
  • 11:00 pm – 1:00 pm: Theory class
  • 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm: therapy practical
  • 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Breakfast
  • 3:00 pm  -4:00 pm : rest
  • 4: 00 pm – 5:00 pm: tuning to nature
  • 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm: rest
  • 6: 00 pm – 7: 30 pm: yoga practice

Theory

  • Definition of yoga, streams of yoga
  • Concept of health and disease according to Vedic tradition
  • Sthula, sookshma, and Karana sharira (gross, subtle, and causal bodies)
  • Panchakosha (five sheaths)
  • Nadi, chakras, and granthis (subtle channels, centers, and knots)
  • Prana and its types
  • Success and failure in yoga practices
  • Anatomy and physiology of yoga practices
  • Mindfulness practices – mindfulness-based stress reduction, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive behavior therapy
  • Panchaklesh (five afflictions)
  • Vyadhi according to yoga vasistha
  • Astang yoga – yama, niyama, asan, pranayama, pratyahar, dharana, dhyan Samadhi
  • Concept and methods of Integrated approach of yoga therapy (IAYT).
  • Introduction, pathogenesis, sign and symptoms, management and yoga therapy for following conditions:  asthma, nasal allergy, hypertension, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, coronary heart disease, obesity, dyslipidemia, depression, anxiety, insomnia, schizophrenia, substance abuse, somatoform disorder, stroke, headache, Parkinson disease, cancer, arthritis, back pain, gastritis, constipation, indigestion, epilepsy, menstrual problems, thyroid disorders, etc.
  • General evaluation: temperature, respiratory rate, blood pressure, pulse rate, bhramari time

  • Sithilikarana vyaayam  and sookshma vyaayam (loosening)
  • Asanas – dandasan, tadasan, ardhakati chakrasan, padahastasan, trikonasana, pparivrita trikonasana, viraasan, vajrasan, vakrasana, sasakasan, ardha matsendrasan, sputa vajrasana, gomukhasana, parvatasan, setu bandhasan, salabhasan, bhujangasan, dhanurasan, paschimottanasana, halasana, sarvangasan, matsayasan, marichyasana, badhha konasan, simhasan, ushtrasan,
  • Shatkarma – neti, kapalbhati, nauli, vaman dhauti, vasti/ shankah prakshalan, tratak
